An Innovative Offshore Race Model in the Mediterranean

The CIC MED CHANNEL RACE follows in the footsteps of its Normandy-based sister race, featuring the Class40s, a leading class in offshore sailing. In the Mediterranean, a second class will join the event in 2027: the Sun Fast 30 One Design (SF30 OD). Held annually, the race is sailed double-handed by Class40 crews and by mixed-gender double-handed crews in the SF30 OD class.

The challenging courses cover 700 nautical miles (1,296 km) and 1,000 nautical miles (1,852 km). Starting from Marseille, the skippers embark on a week-long race through the Var Islands, to Calvi in Corsica, and along the east coast of Sardinia. The route then takes them around the island of Mallorca before returning to Marseille.

Combining coastal racing with several major offshore legs, the race takes competitors through some truly spectacular locations, promising stunning imagery.

Scheduled for the very beginning of the season, the event aims to benefit from weather conditions suited to the course while fitting seamlessly into the existing sailing calendar.

With such a demanding course and a highly competitive fleet, plenty of twists and turns are expected throughout the race.
